**CLOSED**Birthday Blessings Bash! # 7 Happy Baby Company/Buddah Bunz dryer balls!!

Happy Baby Company has done it again!!! They have been gracious to sponsor another review on this blog! I really enjoy working with this company, because they are a 'mom and pop' company, are based out of Pennsylvania (where my hubby is from) and they do a lot of things to help out members of their community! Despite the fact that Adam is a Steelers fan, I agreed to do this review! I have worked with Happy Baby Company in the past, and have also ordered from them! This company has an awesome variety of natural baby care items, from cloth diapers (even a gently used section from their own child's stash) to baby carriers, toys, and some cool things for us mamas!! They even have a very informative "cloth diaper information" page chock full of information on everything you need to know when cloth diapering! They also have a great rewards program. So the more you shop with them, the more rewards you earn!

Oh, did I mention that they have free shipping!! No code or coupon needed.

    Who doesn't LOVE free shipping!

I have been researching dryer balls. I have heard so many great things about them and my curiosity has gotten the better of me! Happy Baby Company sent me 4 Buddah Bunz wool dryer balls. Two to try, and yes, two to give away to one of you!!

    This is what I received:

Apparently my son thought they were new toys for him, when we opened the box!!

(oh my look at that hair)!!

I used them on a load of microfiber inserts first, and I noticed that the drying time had decreased by at least 20 minutes! My inserts came out really soft and fluffy too! Then I used them with some regular laundry and they came out soft too! Here is what my dryer balls looked like after about 6 uses:

They look a bit pilly, but they work great! You can purchase these Buddah Bunz dryer balls from Happy Baby Company for $8.50! *right now they are offering free scenting* Oh, and shipping is free too!! Or you can enter to win some here! One lucky LWML follower will win a set (2) Buddah Bunz wool dryer balls (like the ones pictured! *please note, the prize dryer balls are natural/undyed and unscented *Your e-mail address must be included in every comment so I can contact you if you win! **CLOSED**Birthday Blessings Bash! # 6 The Willow Store's Sprout Change diaper!

Welcome to day #6 of the Birthday Blessings Bash! Today is a joint giveaway with Triple Duty (Momma)! Have you heard of the Willow Store?? I came accross this on-line store while searching for hemp inserts and cloth diapers. This store has some awesome products! They sell Sprout Change reuseable diapers, reuseable training pants, reuseable feminine care products, nursing pads, postpartum kits, organic hemp prefolds, organic wipes... to name a few!! They even sell re-useable bags, organic pillows and blankets and also laundry products (think wool dryer balls)! Not only do they have awesome products, but they passionate about creating products that are safe for baby, parents and the earth. Catherine Bolden created Willow Pads back in 2005 and the Willow Store was born not too long after.

Here is the mission statement of The Willow Store:
"We are committed to the Reusable Movement. The Earth is not disposable—and we need to treat her with the respect that she deserves, with reusable products that are sustainable for the environment and our economy. Reusables are our future, and we are passionate about making a difference, for our children, and for the Earth."
Awesome right? Who would not want to support such an environmentally friendly company?
More information about the Willow Store can be found
    HERE!
I was so excited when I found out that Catherine had agreed to provide a Sprout Change diaper (in StringBean) and a hemp insert for my review!! I was even more excited when it came in the mail. Look how stinkin' cute this diaper is!!

I tried this diaper on my youngest (1 year old and 18 lbs):

It was a really good fit!

It is nice and trim and I love it! There were no leaks either! *and you know that makes me happy*
So, a few great things about this diaper:
    1. It is made in the USA
    2. It is very easy to adjust (with elastic that can be adjusted legs).
    3. It is reversible (like having 2 color choices in 1 diaper)! They have a wide variety of color selections too, and they just came out with three new colors; Clover, Robin's Egg and Cherry Blossom!
    4. It is a one size diaper (fits baby from 5-40 lbs)!
    5. Very reasonably priced (can buy for $16.95 plus shipping right now on Amazon)!
    6. Oh, did I mention how stinkin' cute this diaper is?
So you can go HERE to see a list of authorized retailers.... or you can win one here!
Catherine has graciously offered one LWML follower a chance to win a Sprout Change cloth diaper in your choice of color! *thanks Catherine*

**CLOSED**Birthday Blessings Bash! #6 Hemp inserts from Cloth Diaper Inc.

Welcome to day 6 of the Birthday Blessings Bash Celebration! Today is another joint giveaway with Diary of Momma! You can visit her blog and enter for your chance to win some Awesome Mother Love products!
    So I was looking at
FuzziBunz Store trying to order some hemp inserts made by Fuzzi Bunz... (since I have fallen in love with these inserts after reviewing the Fuzzi Bunz hemp diaper)! All of the Fuzzi Bunz size medium hemp inserts were sold out :( So I e-mailed the Fuzzi Bunz Store and asked when they would be in. I was told that they carried a very similar hemp insert made by Cloth Diapers Inc. I was curious but not really willing to buy something I was not familiar with. I asked Devin from the FuzziBunz Store if he would be willing to do a review of this product, and he graciously said yes!
This is what I received: (3 medium size inserts)

These are the inserts before being prepped.

These inserts are quite comparable to the contoured Babykicks hemp inserts too!

Hemp inserts have to be washed several times before they will be absorbent. It can take between 6-10 hot water washes before the natural oils from the hemp are removed allowing the fabric to properly absorb. The more you wash your hemp, the more absorbent they will become.

These inserts fit perfectly in my One Size Fuzzi Bunz diapers. I love them! They work really well too! I have not experienced any leaking problems with hemp inserts!

Do you want to try these fabulous hemp inserts? You can buy them from Fuzzi Bunz Store for $13.50! Fuzzi Bunz Store always has free shipping, and right now you can get 3 free micro fiber inserts made by Fuzzi Bunz when you spend $25.00! Or, you can enter to win them here! Devin from Fuzzi Bunz Store has graciously offered one LWML follower a 3 pack of hemp inserts in choice of size!!

**CLOSED**Birthday Blessings Bash! Giveaway # 5 Charlie Banana............

Welcome to day 5 of the Birthday Blessings Bash Celebration! Today is another joint giveaway with And the Little Ones Too! Once you have entered my giveaway you can head over to And the Little Ones Too and enter for a chance to win a Tiny Tush Elite one size pocket diaper in choice of color!!
Today's giveaway is something from Charlie Banana.... anyone guess what it might be?
    Sure they make some cute
cloth diapers, cloth wipes, diaper laundry bags, baby training pants, swim diapers and baby leg warmers.... and the list goes on. Today, I am going to be reviewing their reusable feminine pads! Okay, before you all say Eeeewwww and quickly close out this page, let me tell you a little about 'reusable feminine pads' or mama cloth as I like to call it ;)
So why make the switch? Well, there are certain chemicals in pads and tampons that can be hazardous to your health. The most harmful of which are called 'dioxins.' While researching this term 'dioxins' I came across several articles that really opened my eyes to the dangers of using disposable pads and tampons.
I found some great information on the
Natracare website regarding dioxins and the dangers of using tampons. I also found an article on The Health Wyze Report website that explains the link between disposable pads and tampons to endometriosis.
    Another great article (from Canada)
describes how dioxins may be linked to cancer, endometriosis, low sperm count, and immune system suppression.
Are you shocked yet? Are you ready to make the change to protect your body from these potential life-threatening chemicals?
I am! I received some beautiful reusable feminine pads from Charlie Banana for review!
I received a pack of regular pads and a pack of super pads (and they each came with a cute little pink carry-case)!

The first thing that I thought when I opened the boxes was how cute these little pads were, and how soft too! Don't you just love the little pink butterfly print?
Yeah, ok so they are cute! But do they work? These pads came just in time (if you know what I mean). I washed them in Rockin Green and then hung them to dry.
So, without going into much detail, let me just say that these pads did the trick. I did not experience any leaks and they are sooooo comfortable to wear!
At first I was kinda grossed out by the thought of washing these pads after use, but after washing them, I am no longer grossed out. I just put them in a bag (you can use a small wet-bag, or a little plastic bag to store them in until wash day), then wash them in the washer alone. Some people had told me that they wash them with their regular laundry, and even cloth diapers. I did not try that, and am not sure I will. For some reason, I am just more comfortable washing them alone for now!
So you can buy these cute little pads at
Mami's and Papi's (Target also carries some Charlie Banana products, but I have not seen the pads there *yet*), or you can go to Charlie Banana's website to locate an authorized dealer!
I have been told that a good number of these pads to have in your 'stash' is about 15 for an average woman. However, every woman is different and so you may need a few more or less.
Charlie Banana has graciously offered a set of pads in choice of color/print and absorbency to one lucky LWML follower!

the guidelines are quite simple here!

    • grab the Military Monday Blog Hop button and post it as a new blog post or somewhere on your blog so we can be sure you are at the right hop!

    • follow all three hosts {just click the buttons below!} - we promise to follow back, just give us a few days to catch up with everyone!

  • follow as many, or as few, of the linked blogs as you like - but remember, the more you follow, the more followers you will get in return! be sure to leave a comment that you stopped by from the Military Monday Blog Hop and leave your blog address!!

  • check out this week’s “spotlight blog” – Goodnight Moon!

    1.  Where do you blog, and what does your blog focus on?

My blog is called, Goodnight moon. I blog about the military, my kids, random thoughts and things that keep me from sleeping at night. I normally keep my posts lite and fun, but every once in awhile...I'll get fired up and will vent through a blog post.

    2.  What is your biggest blogging goal?

I don't really have a "blogging goal" per say. Sometimes I day dream and think about the "maybes" of what could come from my blog. But in general I just like being able to connect with other people who share the same interests.

P.S...it would be awesome if I could get sponsored to go to a blogging conference one day, but I'll keep day dreaming for that to happen. "Maybe" someday *sigh.

    3.  What is your biggest blogging fear?

A blogging fear? If my blog was to just vanish into the cyber world and I lost all my posts. I would be devastated.

    4.  Has blogging changed you or your outlook on "real life" scenarios?

Yes! 110% Yes! It has taught me lessons and has opened my eyes up about people in general; some good and some bad. It has allowed me to connect with some really amazing women. Blogging has changed my life in ways I never imagined it could.

thanks for joining us, and we hope you make some great new blog friends today!  now, let's get hoppin'!

**CLOSED**Birthday Blessings Bash! Giveaway # 4 Skoy cloth (2 winners)

Welcome to day #4 of the Birthday Blessings bash! Up for grabs today is some fabulous Skoy reusable cloths!
    A bit about Skoy:
What is Skoy cloth? SKOY cloth is a ...100% biodegradable, Absorbent, Re-usable, European-made, Clean and Fun… Multi-use cloth!
The SKOY cloth is a fabulous, absorbent, biodegradable and natural multi-use cloth. Our re-usable earth friendly cloth is perfect in your kitchen, bathroom, and on most surface areas in your home or office. SKOY cloth can be used in place of your sponge, wash cloth or paper towels.

It is a European made product and 100% biodegradable because it is made from a natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp. SKOY cloth is a chlorine-free product using water-based colors and inks. After an independent composting test, SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks.

The SKOY cloth is a durable product due to the reusability factor and can last months. Using a SKOY cloth is equivalent to using 15 rolls of paper towels in an average home. With the high cost of paper towels, as much as $2 per roll, SKOY cloth is the obvious choice for your wallet and the environment.

The SKOY cloth has an absorption factor of 15x its own weight. As a result, producing the most superior cloth product available. Imagine using 15 sheets of good-quality paper towels at once… This is how a wet SKOY cloth will feel in your hand.

The SKOY cloth is long-lasting because of the wash ability feature. It dries quickly, so it is not a breeding ground for bacteria. Have you ever used your sponge, then smelled your hand and it reeked of horrible bacteria? That will never happen again if you microwave your SKOY cloth regularly. It is also dishwasher and washer/dryer safe. Cleaning your SKOY cloth will keep it healthy and germ-free. Please see Use & Care for instructions.

The cool and unique designs will make cleaning fun!
    (information taken from the
    Skoy website)

**CLOSED**Birthday Blessings Bash! Giveaway #2 $25 GC to Nurtured Family

Welcome to day two of the Birthday Blessings Bash!!
After trying the Fuzzi Bunz cloth diaper that I won on a blog giveaway back in May of 2009, I was hooked! It was love at first sight! My son looked so stinkin' cute! I had to have more.... and my addiction to cloth diapers was born!
    I came across
Nurtured Family while researching where to buy Fuzzi Bunz diapers (Google Fuzzi Bunz and see what you come up with). I purchased most of my stash from Nurtured Family in June, 2009! They had a great deal for those looking to purchase a large number of diapers at one time. I could purchase 12 Fuzzi Bunz One Size diapers for $227.40 plus free shipping (that's only $18.95 each)! I jumped on the chance, and purchased almost all of my stash diapers from Nurtured Family and am so glad I did.

Nurtured family is located in Houston, Texas! It is a 'mom and pop' store that is owned and operated by Mark and Rebecca. Mark left his career in high-tech in order to support the business, while fulfilling his desire to spend more time at home with his family. Rebecca supports the business, but focuses greatly on being a wife and she also home schools their 5 children *awesome*! You can read more about Mark and Rebecca
    HERE!

Not only is Nurtured Family a God-fearing, family-friendly/family-centered business, they have awesome customer service as well! About a year ago, I was experiencing some issues with my original Fuzzi Bunz diapers. The PUL was peeling! I was devastated at the thought of my beloved Fuzzi Bunz being rendered useless. I checked the Fuzzi Bunz website and read that the warranty was only good for one year, and I knew I was just past that year mark. I needed to locate my original receipts, and so I contacted Nurtured Family. I spoke with Mark and he e-mailed me copies of all my receipts. Not only did he do that, but he also told me that if Fuzzi Bunz would not replace my diapers, that Nurtured Family would! Talk about customer service!! Luckily, the awesome folks at Fuzzi Bunz replaced all the diapers I was having trouble with (and even sent me free cloth wipes along with the replacements)!

When I contacted Nurtured family and asked about doing a review/giveaway on my blog, they happily accepted.
Nurtured Family was kind enough to send me a Fuzzi Bunz one size Hemp diaper! *I know you all know how badly I have been wanting to try this diaper*
    This is what I received!

    *Beautiful isn't it*?
This is what the diaper looks like all laid out:

Like the regular Fuzzi Bunz one size diapers, they are easily adjustable at the legs and waist by adjusting the elastic straps as seen here:

Since this diaper comes with a hemp insert, there was a bit of prepping that had to go into getting the hemp washed and ready for use. Hemp inserts have to be washed several times before they will be absorbent. It can take between 6-10 hot water washes before the natural oils from the hemp are removed allowing the fabric to properly absorb. The more you wash your hemp, the more absorbent they will become.

So how is this diaper different from regular Fuzzi Bunz one size diapers? The only difference is the hemp insert, oh, and the labels. The label on the hemp diaper reads "a better diaper for a better planet." Cute eh'? Kind of a reminder that these new hemp diapers are made with natural fibers that are so much more earth-friendly than their counterpart (microfiber)!
Here are some pictures of my littlest little (1 year old, 18 lbs) wearing this beautiful diaper.

Here is the same diaper on my oldest (3 years old/ 35 or so lbs):

Both of my boys have always been pretty slim, and the Fuzzi Bunz one size diaper fits them both beautifully! I must admit, I do own a few size small Fuzzi Bunz fitted diapers, but that's just because with baby number 2 I realized how many more diapers a newborn needs as compared to a 1 year old!

I love the new hemp inserts. Since receiving this diaper, I have purchased a few more hemp inserts to go into the rest of my Fuzzi Bunz diapers! The hemp is really absorbent. I make sure that when I put my kids down for a nap or bed that they are wearing a hemp insert... otherwise they tend to wake up wet... and no one likes a wet, cold cranky baby!!

This is a great diaper, and in my opinion is very affordable! You can purchase this diaper at Nurtured Family for $21.95... BUT, if you sign up to receive their E-Newsletter, you will instantly get a 10% off coupon code sent right to your inbox!

Do you want to try this new Fuzzi Bunz Hemp diaper? Well, Nurtured Family has graciously offered one LWML follower a $25.00 gift certificate towards the purchase of anything in their store!

They carry many great products from baby carriers, to natural toys, bath and body items, and much, much more!

CLOSED!! Birthday Blessings Bash! Giveaway #1 Rockin' Green Funk Rock

    Photobucket

    *****************CLOSED*******************
Welcome to my Birthday Blessings Bash event! It is my intent to celebrate the lives of my two little boys by pouring out blessings upon my blog followers! My youngest turned one in January and my oldest turns one today *sniff*
This is going to be fun!
From now until February 10th I will post 1 new giveaway each day *some of which will be joint giveaways with other bloggers!!! (which means more stuff for you to win)! Each giveaway will stay open one week from the day it is posted. The last giveaway will be posted on February 10th and will close February 17th. You will have plenty of time to enter!
The first item up for grabs is a bag of
Funk Rock from Rockin' Green! Today is also a joint giveaway day!!! April, over at Marine Parents....Toughest Job in the Corps has decided she wants in on the fun.... and is offering one of you a chance to win a fitted cloth diaper (in choice of fabric) from Bum Covered Diapers! (details on how to enter her giveaway are listed below!
    The review:
I know many of you have tried
Rockin' Green Laundry Detergent and LOVE it (especially on your lovely cloth diapers)! I did a review on Rockin Green detergent back in October and fell in love with it! I must admit, I have been using ONLY Rockin' Green on my diapers for the last month or so! I just love how clean it gets my dipes.
As a mama with two boys in cloth the ammonia smell can be pretty strong! There is just something about the smell of urine that seems to intensify with the age of your baby!
So I decided to give Funk Rock (aka Ammonia Bouncer) a try. I didn't really realize that my diapers still had a bit of an ammonia smell to them (yes, even after using Rockin' Green) until I used Funk Rock!

    This is what I received:

The instructions for using Funk Rock are simple:
    1. Throw everything in the washer, sink, tub, or bucket.
    2. Add 4 Tbs of Funk Rock with hot or warm water.
    3. Let it soak for 30-60 minutes.
    4. Rinse, and wash like normal using Rockin' Green detergent.
Now, this is where some people have claimed to have a bit of trouble. They follow the above directions, BUT do not do an overnight soak in Rockin' Green BEFORE using the Funk Rock (as recommended on the package).
So, in order to get the stinkies out, you have to do an overnight soak with Rockin' Green first for those of you new to Rockin' Green, this is what is called "Rockin' a Soak"
Here is a great video that shows you just how to get that soak rocked!

I wish I could capture the ammonia smell somehow to display it here for this review! But, you will just have to take it from me, that the smell was so bad it made my eyes water!
    So first, I
    rocked a soak...

Then, I put 4 Tbs of Funk Rock into my washer as the hot water ran.... mixed it all up, then added all those diapers back in. Waited an hour and ran the normal wash cycle!
    The results:
It works great. Some of my older diapers (that I've had for over 2 years) came out looking brand new, and the smell was totally gone! HALLELUJAH!
I am sold... and you will be too!
This is a 'must-have' item for all you cloth diapering mama's out there! Trust me!
You can purchase Funk Rock (Ammonia Bouncer) from the
Rockin' Green website for $12.95 (+shipping). Rockin' Green usually has several coupon codes out that make purchasing from them well worth it. Coupon codes can be found on their Facebook page under the sale tab!
    You can also purchase
Rockin' Green Funk Rock on Amazon for $16.06 (which seems a bit steep, but considering you get free shipping, its a great deal)!
So, you can hunt around for the best deal to buy it, or you can win it here!
Kim at Rockin' Green has graciously offered one full sized bag of Rockin' Green Funk Rock (Ammonia Bouncer) to one lucky LWML follower! *thanks Kim*

    A bit about me...

Ok, so I realize that most of my blogging has been about giveaways and fun stuff.
Well, I wanted to make this post about me... you know, so you all could get to know me a little.
I am 30 (something) *low thirties* have two boys (as you already know). Want about 4 kiddos in all :)
Have been married to my wonderful husband for 7 years! We are a military family. I served 5 years as a military police officer in the Army (don't hate)!
    I loved the Army.
I have a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. I am a stay at home mom!!
I am a follower and lover of Christ!
Let's see, what else? Hmmm Oh, I love cloth diapers... (but you already know that)!
I strive to eat healthy, organic unprocessed food!
When we retire in 2 years from the Army, I would love to live on a bit of land somewhere and raise our own chickens, have a horse, a dog or two, an outside cat, and maybe grow our own beef... not like a herd, but like one to grow for our own meat.
    Ok, that's enough about me!
Here are some recent pics from our snow day we had just 2 days ago. We loved it!
Don't forget about the Birthday Blessings Bash that starts in just 2 days! Lots of great, fun, fluffy prizes!
