Apparently my son thought they were new toys for him, when we opened the box!!
(oh my look at that hair)!! I used them on a load of microfiber inserts first, and I noticed that the drying time had decreased by at least 20 minutes! My inserts came out really soft and fluffy too! Then I used them with some regular laundry and they came out soft too! Here is what my dryer balls looked like after about 6 uses:
