"Birthday Blessings Bash" Rumparooz Eco Posh fitted diaper review and coupon code {Thanks Mama}

Since my oldest (now 4) was about 2 years old we have been using fitted diapers and wool covers at night. Now that he is potty trained, and my youngest is now 2 we are doing the same with him!
Recently I was blessed to receive an Eco Posh fitted diaper in the color "peace" from Thanks Mama for review. This is what I received:

The 6*r soakers are made of 50% bamboo, 20% organic cotton, and 30% polyester. The diaper itself is made of:
Outer:
65% recycled water bottles
35% organic cotton
Inner: 50% bamboo, 20% organic cotton and 30% polyester
The first thing I noticed when I opened the diaper is how SOFT it is. It's amazingly soft!
It did take some washing to get it all prepped though.
Here is some more information on this diaper (taken from Thanks Mama's website):
EcoPosh Recycled Organic One Size Fitted Pocket Diaper
The EcoPosh Recycled Organic One Size Fitted Pocket Diaper by Rumparooz is made out of bamboo, organic cotton, and recycled water bottles. This one size fitted diaper adjusts to 4 different sizes to accommodate little ones from 6-35 lbs. Because this is a fitted diaper you will need to use a diaper cover. Each EcoPosh Recycled Organic One Size Fitted Diaper coves with a 6r Soaker that is made out of bamboo and organic cotton. This makes the entire diaper a thirsty 10 layers! Use this diaper for heavy wetters when you need extra absorbency and during the night. The double inner gussets keep messes and wetness inside. It fastens on your baby with snap closures.
Sizes are adjusted with snaps on the front of the diaper.
4 Sizes in 1
•Newborn - Starts at 6 lbs
•Small - Starts at 10 lbs
•Medium - Starts at 15 lbs
•Large - Fully unsnapped. Starts at 20
There was one thing I was concerned about with this diaper. Since it is made up of 65% recycled water bottles, I wondered if it contained BPA!! I contacted Rumparooz/Kanga care regarding this question and they could not provide me with an answer right away. I also asked The Green Nursery about this on their Facebook wall. They told me they would contact Rumparooz/Kanga Care and get back to me. They did, about a week later. Soon after that I also heard back from Julie D., a customer care person for Rumparooz/Kanga Care. She told me via e-mail "the EcoPosh line is BPA and phthalate free." She did not give any further information, just the claim that the diapers are in fact BPA and phthalate free! I wonder though really if the company really goes through and make sure the only plastic bottles they were using for these diapers were not a #1 or a #7 plastic! What's wrong with BPA you ask? Bisphenol A is a xenoestrogen, a known endocrine disruptor, meaning it disturbs the hormonal messaging in our bodies. Synthetic xenoestrogens are linked to breast cancer and uterine cancer in women, decreased testosterone levels in men, and are particularly devastating to babies and young children. BPA has even been linked to insulin resistance and Type 2 Diabetes. For more of the science on the effects of BPA on our endocrine system etc. see these studies: Environmental Health Perspectives Journal.

So I steer clear of plastic (whenever possible) for this reason!

Here are some more pictures of the Rumparooz Ecoposh fitted diaper:

This is the diaper on my 2 yo son:

We did not experience any leaks with this diaper, or other issues. The only thing I noticed is that this diaper, once washed a few times starts to look really worn. I also don't really like the fact that someone from Kanga Care just stated "does not contain BPA or phthalates without providing a more in-depth answer, such as how they go about ensuring this diaper is made without BPA and phthalate-free plastic water bottles!
I've worked with Helena of Thanks Mama in the past and let me tell you that they have an awesome selection of cloth diapers and amazing customer service. "Birthday Blessings Bash" Rumparooz G2 #CLOTHDIAPER #GIVEAWAY {Dearest Diapers} US and Canada

Dearest Diapers is an online shop operated and owned by Rana!
Dearest Diapers has (of course) a vast inventory of  cloth diapers for sale, but Dearest Diapers also sells baby carriers, baby legs, dryer balls and a bunch of other cloth diapering accessories!

Here is a bit more about Rana and Dearest Diapers: (taken from the Dearest Diapers website)!

"I am a mother of two wonderful children. I had never considered cloth diapering until my second child was about 4 months old and we were battling consistent skin irritations. They caused him so much discomfort, that it affected his night time sleeping and his overall happiness.

I have a 4 year degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and could not believe that I was unable to solve this diapering issue. I truly felt somewhat lost as a parent as well as a scientist and did not know where to turn to. After trying several different brands of disposable diapers, which made his eczema worse, I found out about the great new cloth diaper options out there. I bought several different types of cloth diapers and immediately saw a change in my son's behavior. Since then I have become a cloth diaper believer and advocate.

The reason I opened this store is due to the general lack of availability of cloth diapering resources and to help change the stigmatism that cloth diapers are old fashioned, dirty and inconvenient.

Not only do cloth diapers work wonders on babies and children who have skin issues like my son, but they are also better for the environment than disposable diapers. They are cute, modern...And let's face it people: Cloth diapers are IN!!!"

Rana also has a very cool (and informative "Cloth 101" page) where you can learn about different types of cloth diapers and how to care and use them!

As a sponsor of the "Birthday Blessings Bash" event, Dearest Diapers has graciously offered one LWML follower a Rumparooz G2 Diaper in choice of color/print and closure *subject to in-stock availability*
This giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents!

"Newborns AND Cloth" Lots of goodies I reviewed and a $25.00 GC #GIVEAWAY {Petite Bottoms}

So awhile back I *met* Kim from Petite Bottoms and she sponsored a review of a Woolybottoms soaker and a pair of wool slippers... you can read that review HERE!
When I told Kim I was heading to Oregon to be with my sister while she had her baby Kim was quick to get in on the action. Kim graciously sent me a few great items for review. I received a Rumparooz Newborn diaper cover, a set of 3 different cloth wipes and a contoured diaper both made by Kim herself!!
This is what I received:
From left to right on the wipes, Grovia cloth wipes ($10.95 per 12 pack); Petite Bottoms flannel wipes ($1.17 each) and the ones on the right have been discontinued, but are very similar to the Petite Bottoms velour wipes ($1.34 each)!
The laundry tabs for the Velcro/Hook and loop on the Rumparooz:
And of course, the infamous inner gussets to contain the messiest of messes :)
This is the diaper on the smallest setting:
I coupled the Rumparooz newborn cover with Kim's contoured diaper:

The contoured diaper with the Rumparooz newborn cover:
That is a nice fit around the legs!
So comfy in this diaper:
Isn't he so adorable... Uhhmmmm yeah, back to the review (can you tell I am missing him)!
I love Kim's contoured diaper. It works really well, both for a diaper and a burp cloth! It is really long and you can see in the picture above that I had to fold the front of it down so that it would fit Ezra just right!
The wipes are amazing! They are so soft and they really do an awesome job at cleaning up the poo! Yes, even meconium poo!!
The contoured diaper and the wipes really wash up well... I used Rockin Green and some Lu Lu's Glamour wash.... no stains!

The Rumparooz diaper cover is awesome! Again, I am not a huge fan of Velcro/Hook and Loop but this diaper really fit well over Kim's contoured diaper! No leaks or other problems with this system!
I imagine this cover would work really well on other fitted diapers or prefolds as well... I didn't get a chance to try it out on anything but the contoured diaper, and it worked awesome!
The cover is made from biodegradable TPU & Polyester and fits a baby from 4-12 lbs!
You can purchase the Rumparooz Lil Joey newborn cover from Petite Bottoms for $9.95 (solids) and $11.95 for prints!
You can purchase the contoured diaper made by Kim herself for only $3.49!

But as a sponsor of the Newborns AND Cloth event, Kim has graciously offered one LWML follower a chance to win a $25.00 GC to be used towards the purchase of anything at Petite Bottoms!
To enter, simply use the rafflecopter form below, you may have to click on "read more" to see the rafflecopter entry form!
