Thought for Thursday

This week I have been thinking about family! We welcomed a family member home this week. He had been living in another state for 12 years. I personally hadn't seen him in over 3 years. It was nice to welcome him back home. His homecoming was filled with love and support. It reminded me of the story of the Prodigal's son from the Bible.
I've been thinking about family a lot lately. Perhaps because its coming up on the 2 year mark of my father passing away, or because the holidays are approaching, I'm not really sure. I do know though that for me, family is what its all about. God first, family second, period.
I am happy that my mom will be flying out here from Oregon in November to spend Thanksgiving with us. I already bought her ticket!
What are your thoughts on family?
Is there something in particular that you do as a family over the holidays? Please share!

  4. I love my family! Including my sister Mama of the Littles! As you know, I have mixed feelings about leaving "the nest" again (the area we grew up, mom, etc) but trusting that the Lord is leading us into a new chapter of our lives as our "own" family: Mommy, Daddy and darling Jonathan.

Family is so important. I am coming to realize that some friends can become your adopted family. Thank the Lord for that fact!
