SoftBums Omni Review AND GIVEAWAY *with a twist*

One of the joys of Cloth diapering (besides saving loads of money, helping the planet, and seeing your littles run around in obvious cuteness) is the chance to try out so many different kinds of diapers. There are so many kinds out there.... Name brands and household names, custom diapers from WAHM's, fitted diapers and wool (thats a post that will be coming soon so stay tuned)! I was recently given the opportunity to try a SoftBums Omni! I received the "Snowcone" Omni: The SoftBums Omni is a One size diaper that can accomodate a child from 6-35 lbs! Can you see from the picture what makes this diaper different than any other (I have tried)? This diaper was designed to be one diaper that can be used 3 different ways! It can be used like an AI2 (simply snap in the super soft pod): A pocket: Or you can cover the diaper with a flat or prefold: So many options...don't we all love options?? If you would like to watch a video presentation about the different ways this awesome diaper can be used, simply check out this fabulous video on YouTube!

*taken from the SoftBums website: SoftBums Omni Features:

•SoftBums Patent Pending Slide²Size is the ONLY variable adjustment of its kind

•Fits all legs widths from 4" - 14" for NO red marks EVER. Made in the USA!

•Choose your own Pods for a customized diapering system!

•SoftBums Omni is larger than an Echo to more easily cover prefolds, flats and fitteds!

•Huge pocket opening is easy to stuff and un-stuff

•No Leaks, Thanks to Slide²Size Technology!

•SoftBums Omni protects against rash; up to 80% less rash than disposables!

•Industrial strength velcro closures are long lasting and won't "wear out" like other velcro

•Reusable Omni shell saves money, space, and resources

This is the Soft Bums Omni at the smallest setting (makes me want another baby... can't you just picture a tiny little baby in that diaper)?

I have used this diaper all 3 ways on both my boys! My oldest Aaron is 3 and is 33+ lbs. He is a heavy wetter and I found this diaper to be great, no leaks (though it did have a bit of extra stuffing to prevent that)! *sorry, didn't get any pics of him in this great diaper**

This diaper fit my Joshua (who is 14 months and just 20 lbs) really great too!

I did not experience any leaks with either child! I think my favorite way to use this diaper is with the pod snapped in place. The pod is so super soft and I can imagine how comfortable it must be against my little's skin! Another really great feature about this diaper is the Slide to Size technology as seen here:

*please note this picture above depicts the "Echo" diaper, but the sizing concept is the same!

You can see the small opening in the front of the diaper where you can adjust the toggle for the perfect fit!

Another thing I have to add about this diaper... many of you know that I really am not a fan of Velcro/hook and loop, but I would have to say that my love for snaps did not make me love this diaper any less (surprisingly)! I always reach for my diapers with snaps out of habit, but since receiving this diaper, I find myself searching for it to put it on my boys (especially during nap-time)!
Buy it! You can purchase a Softbums Omni solo pack for $22.95! There are some great colors, and a really cute kitty print for those of you with little girls, and also a giraffe print!!
Or you can win it here! Sarah (owner of SoftBums) has generously offered to give one LWML follower a Sprout Omni Bamboo solo pack! But thats not all... she is also offering a bag of Rockin Green soap in Mighty Marshmellow scent, classic rock formula! So there will be 2 winners for this giveaway! 1 winner for the Sprout Omni, and the other for the Rockin Green soap!

Who's excited??

Feeding your baby/toddler! Giveaway #7

So we have seen some really great products this week and have discussed a bit about different things and ways to feed your baby! Now, lets talk about cleaning up! There are some really great products out there on the market today that are non-toxic, biodegradable and yes, quite effective! One of my favorite products I love to use is Biokleen! Recently I was given the opportunity to try their Lemon Thyme Dishwash liquid. I LOVE this stuff! It smells so fresh and clean! It really cuts through grease and makes clean up a breeze! This is what I received: The Dishwash liquid (and all their other products) contain no: phosphate, chlorine, ammonia, petroleum, solvents, alcohol, butyl, glycol ether, SLS, EDTA, DEA, SARA Title III, CA 65 or EPA priority pollutants. It contains no materials listed by the ACGIH as hazardous! AWESOME!! It even cleaned up my little guy after he tore into some home made spaghetti and meat balls!

You can purchase the Biokleen Lemon Thyme dishwash liquid from Amazon.com or you can get the unscented version and the one with aloe from Drugstore.com! Or, you can win it here! Biokleen has graciously offered one LWML follower a chance to win their very own 32 oz bottle of Lemon Thyme dishwash liquid!

    Feeding your baby/toddler! Giveaway #5

What do you use to give your baby/toddler milk/juice/water? If you are not breastfeeding (or sometimes even if you are) you need something like a bottle or sippy cup! I love green products and when I was first looking for sippy cups, I was appalled at how many sippy cups were made from plastics that contain harmful chemicals like Bisphenol A (BPA) and Phthalates! I made a vow not to buy any type of cup unless it was guaranteed to be free of those things! I came across Tommee Tippee! Tommee Tippee graciously sent me a set of their cups for review! This is what I received:

Aren't they cute! These cups are insulated, and spill/leak proof! My oldest son loves them. To test out their claim to being leak proof, I filled one with water, and held it upside down and started shaking it vigorously... no leaks! Not even a little drip! Amazing! I love these cups! I cannot tell you how excited I am to have a leak-proof sippy cup that is insulated and BPA free now that the weather is getting warmer! These cups will go with us this summer to the pool, the beach and just outside for walks! Yay! Are you looking for some insulated cups that are leak proof? Look no further! Tommee Tippee also offers a wide variety of other products as well, pacifiers, tableware, bibs, and bottles! You can purchase the cups I received at Babies R Us for $8.99 or you can win a set here! Tommee Tippee has graciously offered one LWML follower the same cup set (in either boy or girl design)!

    Feeding your baby/toddler! Giveaway #3

When we don't have the time (or energy) to make our own wholesome, organic baby food... there are yet, some other yummy options. I recently was able to sample some great baby food called Ella's Kitchen! This is what I received: I received one of each of the following "The Purple One; The Red One; Strawberries and Apples; Butternut squash, carrots, apples and prunes; Broccoli, pears and peas; Apples and bananas; spinach, apples, rutabaga, and a sweet potatoes, pumpkin, apples and blueberries." A bit about Ella's Kitchen: Ella's Kitchen was started by Ella's father, Paul! "Here we passionately believe that Ella along with the rest of her generation, should get the opportunity to eat better and healthy foods. This all came to pass when my daughter, Ella, was little and I was trying to find the perfect foods for her to eat - healthy, delicious, and easy to pop into a backpack for our on the go lifestyle. I couldn't find anything that fit this description, so my family and I went to work!" More about how Ella's Kitchen began can be found here! I love that Ella's Kitchen offers organic baby food that is gluten free, and their containers are free from Bisphenol A (BPA) and Phthalates! Great news! You know what else I love about Ella's Kitchen baby food? Its free from all of the following: added salt, sweeteners, water, preservatives, thickeners, E numbers or GMO, high fructose corn syrup, dairy, egg, wheat, lactose, gluten, no lumps or bits, and nothing artificial.... "just squished organic fruit for kids" it doesn't get much more simple than that!! My boys love these foods! I just got them in the mail a day or so ago, and I only have 3 packs left! Yikes! I need to buy more! I love to make my own yogurt and use these fruit smoothies to mix into they yogurt! You can now buy Ella's kitchen products at Amazon, Diapers.com and Babies R' Us! Ella's Kitchen has graciously offered the same sample pack that I received (listed above) to one lucky LWML follower! So I know that in a perfect world, we would all be sipping cups of tea and making our own nutritious home-made organic baby food! But lets face it, us moms get busy! Our attention, time and efforts are demanded in so many directions... so if you are like me, I always have a few jars of organic baby food on hand, just in case :) Happy Baby Food is one of those companies that makes awesome organic baby and toddler foods. I reached out to Happy Baby Food and this is what they sent me:

I went shopping with my coupons and this is what I got: My kids LOVE this food (the yogurt melts in particular)! I don't feel bad giving my littles these snacky types of foods when we are out and about or I'm running late with dinner (which never happens *wink*), because these foods are made from high-quality organic ingredients!

They also offer a wide variety of frozen foods as well. More information about Happy Baby Food can be found on their website, and loads of useful information can be found on their blog as well (including giveaways)! You can buy Happy Baby Foods at many stores, and also on Amazon!

    Feeding your baby/toddler! Giveaway #1

This week I am starting a little event called "Feeding your baby/toddler." I have some great product to review and give away to some of you!! Each day for 7 days I will post a review and giveaway of a product I hope will help you as you venture to feed your baby/toddler the most nutritious foods possible!

The first item is a book called Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron!

Everyone knows that one of the most important things you can do for your littles is to make sure s/he is getting the most nutritious food possible. Whether you breast feed, formula feed, or however you feed... you need to make sure you are feeding your baby the very best!
I breastfed my oldest son (Aaron) until he was 18 months old. He just loved to nurse! I probably would have nursed him longer, but I was pregnant with my second son (Joshua), and my body just could not keep up with feeding 3 people! I also breastfed my second born (Joshua) for about 9 months. I would have loved to nurse him for much longer, but as his teeth came in, he went on a nursing strike and just down right refused to nurse! This went on for about 4 long months. I was pumping like a mad woman and then finally I just came to the realization that he didn't want to nurse any more :(
When Aaron started eating solid foods I had so many food-related questions! Then I heard about a book called Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron! I checked it out from the library, and that night, after reading the first chapter, I bought my own copy. This book was choc-full of useful information! So much information right at my finger tips!
Super Baby Food "Absolutely everything you should know about feeding your baby and toddler, from starting solid foods to age three. Includes more than 350 quick, easy, delicious and nutritious recipes and thousands of money-saving and time-saving child care and kitchen tips. Highly recommended by new moms and dads!"
That is what is written on the front cover!
Who doesn't want to feed their baby/toddler the very best nutritious foods and save time and money while doing so?? I do!!
The best thing (in my opinion) about this book is that Ruth gives very useful information where food allergies are concerned, and she explains how to make your very own home-made baby food SAFELY!! I made my own baby food from all organic foods and my boys love it! Now I use the toddler recipes and my kiddos still love it!
Here are the parts to the book
    1. Feeding your super baby (think feeding beginning solids, making your own baby food, food allergies, how much your baby should eat and drink, safety warnings, and the list goes on)!
    2. Preparation and storage of super baby food (self explanatory)! Tells you how to make your own homemade baby food, how to properly store it and much more!
    3. Toddler (and Grown-up) Recipes! This is one of my favorite parts of the book. If you are anything like me and you get stuck in a rut as to what to feed your kiddos. You seem to cook the same things week after week... this part of the book is filled with great tasting, FUN, easy and nutritious recipes that all kids (and grown-ups) will love!!
    4. Fun Stuff! This part includes tips on food decorating, yes that's right, I said food decorating. Getting creative with the food (and the food's appearance) that your kids are eating! Think, ants on a log!! Also discusses party foods and preparation, and arts and crafts to do with your littles!
    5. Reference and appendices!
As you can see, this book is much more than just a plain Jane cookbook! Its great, and I love it!
    Buy it: Right now on
Amazon you can get this book for only $13.57 (with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime)!

I contacted Ruth and she has agreed to give one lucky LWML follower your very own copy of Super Baby Food!!
