Salt Dough Ornaments!!

These are so fun, and easy to make... the littles will love it!

Salt Dough Ornaments:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
3/4 cup boiling water

Pour salt in bowl, add boiling water and stir. Let sit and cool a few minutes. Add flour all at once and combine (I used my stand mixer) until a smooth, soft workable dough. Turn out (on floured surface if necessary...I did) and knead for a minute. Roll out to desired thickness and use cookie cutters to cut shapes or cut by hand using sharp knife. Use a toothpick or chopstick to make a hole for ribbon, string or ornament hook (I don't use ornament hooks around my kids if I can avoid it) at least 1/8" in from edge. Bake in a 150 to 200 degree oven until completely dry and hard. (I used a 150 degree oven and after 3 hours decided to switch to 200 degrees. Then my ornaments were done in about another hour.) To prevent ornaments from bulging while baking, prick tiny holes in a few places with a toothpick. Paint, glaze, decorate with markers or leave "naked."
Have fun!
