This is what the diaper looks like all laid out: I just had to add this picture too, because it shows really well the quality design of the diaper, not to mention the stinkin' cute print! Ok, so now we all know how cute this diaper is, but what else makes this a great diaper?
Well, let me count the ways!
1. Its made in the USA
2. It is affordable (retails for $16.95-$17.95 and fits baby from 8-35 lbs)!!
3. They come in really cute colors and prints to include diapers that glow-in-dark
4. They also come in snaps!!!
I also just found out that Happy Heinys also make Heiny Huggers (which is a sherpa fitted diaper)! I am dying to try that one... and they also make wool covers! Wow! All made in the USA!! *did I already mention that*?
So I tried this diaper on my 3 year old son... he's 33+ lbs and this is how the diaper fit:
Many of you know that my favorite diapers are ones with snaps, but I must say that the Velcro on these diapers are very durable and even after several washes, they are not all frayed and worn looking! That is another plus! Oh, and I did try this diaper on my 14 month old (19 lb) son as well, and it fit him great also!
Here is the diaper on the smallest setting:
Here is the diaper on the largest setting:
Are you ready to try this diaper? You can buy this diaper at SweetPeas Cloth for $16.95-$17.95!! Win it: SweetPeas Cloth owner Kayla has generously offered one Happy Heinys One Size pocket diaper in choice of print/color *subject to whats available in stock* to one lucky LWML follower!

ReplyDeleteI think the concept of cloth diapering in a NICU environment is awesome, because the babies are already so sensitive, so the natural fabrics on their skin could be really good.
ReplyDeleteI checked out the SweetPeas Cloth website and I had no idea Bumkins had so many awesome patterns!! Definitely may have to try them out.

I have never had a baby in the NICU but my friend did and the hospital they were at used cloth diapers. I think that is the perfect solution. I think you would be too stressed to add cloth diapers to the mix if your baby was in the NICU but with the hospital washing them that is AWESOME!

i think NICU cloth diapering is a great idea! from what i'm learning about the relation between asthma and disposables, i think using cloth would protect premies and other susceptable babies from various problems. and it's better for their skin, would cut down on rashes (possibly infections), and and wouldn't be all that difficult!
ReplyDeletei'd really like to try rocky mountain diapers or the miYim toys!

I admire Kayla's strength for herself and her family as she goes through this difficult time with her baby. I also admire her for having the strength, patience, endurance, and courage to not only go through this but to also continue to cloth diaper, even in the NICU! I think that shows real conviction about your choices.
ReplyDeleteAs far as me cloth diapering a baby in the NICU, I would at least like the option to. I would give it my best effort, and show the nurses what to do with soiled diapers and provide plenty of necessary items (diapers, a wetbag, etc.) and at least give it a try.

Wow, I think CDing in the NICU would be extremely challenging. I honestly don't think I'd be able to do it, not with a kiddo at home and trying to balance everything between a military hubby, toddler and NICU baby. I commend all the mama's who have done it successfully!

I don't know if I would cloth diaper in the NICU. I guess it would depend on how sick my baby was and whether I had time to spend worrying about cloth. I thank God I have never been in that situation, I can't imagine how hard it would be to have a sick or preemie baby. :(

I've never cloth diapered in the NICU, but my firstborn was in the NICU for 2 months as a newborn. I think cloth in the NICU (if they were reliable diapers) would definitely enhance comfort for the wee one and allow parents to bond with baby through that as well. It is difficult for parents to be there at all times, so there may be some difficulty in full time cloth, unless the nurses were willing to do it as well.

i tend to think you would have quite a bit of difficulty with the NICU nurses trying to do cloth diapering. I am all for it and love NICU nurses, but sometimes they like things to be kept as sterile as possible especially if there are any digestive issues.

lord forbid if my baby would ever end up in NICU, but I would NOT cloth diaper in the hospital. I would have a FREAK ATTACK if a nurse "accidently lost" a diaper. oh nooooos! but then again, its best for baby. if it were my son now, he breaks out BAD with pampers and thats the only brand i would use. i'm terribly picky. and how i handle a soiled diaper, nobody else would handle it like i do. er ... i dont know. i'm back and forth on this one. ....
ReplyDeletei'm on a nursing cover kick right now, so thats what i'd like to try. I dont mind either brand.
