Welcome to the NBFluffNstuff blog hop giveaway event!
My baby girl was born just a few short weeks ago. We are so blessed to have her in our lives!
The first #clothdiaper she ever wore was a Lil' Joey in red!
The reason I chose this diaper was because 1. she was a little girl, and what little girl wouldn't love to wear read?! 2. It has the snap down closure to protect her still wet and fragile umbilical stump. 3. This diaper is made to fit babies weighing 4-12 lbs and she was only a tiny 6.8 lbs at birth (the smallest of my 3 littles)!
The Green Nursery sent me a Lil Joey in Lazy Lime for my review. This is what I received:
The Lil' Joeys are normally sold in a 2 pack, but for the purpose of this review and #GIVEAWAY I was sent one diaper. One of you will win the other! :)
Here is some more information on this diaper (taken from The Green Nursery's -TGN- Website):
"Lil Joey Newborn AIO's - 2 Packs
Kanga Care brand cloth diapers are the ONLY cloth diapers on the market that have been uniquely designed to contain the messiest of messes. The inside of each diaper is designed with 2 gentle internal gussets that channel each leg. No chance of escape for even the messiest or messes! Keep that cute outfit clean! The Lil Joey is an AIO (all in one diaper) with a sewn in soaker, no pocket. This specialty diaper was designed to fill the gap between a newborn size and other brands of one size diapers. The Lil Joey fits babies 4-12 lbs. The Rumparooz One Size Diaper will fit a newborn starting at 6 lbs, but other brands of one size diapers will not fit until 10-12 lbs. The Lil Joey has a snap down center for easy umbilical care and comfort. The Lil Joey is a 2 size or "grow with me" diaper as it has shorter rise setting in the snapped down position and then higher rise settings in the unsnapped position.
Lil Joey Biodegradability:
The waterproof material Kanga Care uses on the Rumparooz, Lil Joey (and any other waterproof products) is TPU, not PUL. PUL is a polyester fabric that has been laminated with a poly-urethane laminate using a solvent and chemical process. This process off-gases harmful toxic fumes that destroy the building that the fabric is produced in. In 2008 Kanga Care started using a biodegradable TPU waterproof material. Biodegradable TPU is solvent-free. Biodegradable TPU is a polyester fabric that has been laminated with a thermoplastic polyurethane using a heat bonding process. This process is low in toxicity and is better for the natural environment. Both the TPU laminate and the polyester fabric the laminate is applied to are biodegradable. When composted they will biodegrade in 4-5 years."
Here is a picture of the internal gussets that work VERY well to contain even the messiest of messes:

Here is the diaper on my not even a week old sweet baby girl:
I love how the snap down rise protects the delicate stump!
As I stated above, she only weighed 6.8 lbs at birth and by day 2 had dropped to 6.1, so this diaper was worn by her when she was right near 6 lbs even!
This has been one of my most favorite newborn diapers that I've had the opportunity to try out over the past few weeks!
It is very easy to use (it's an all in one -AIO- so there is no need to stuff pockets, simply wash and go)! It is very easy to clean. Even the messiest of yellow breast fed poo comes right out in the wash!
*I use the pre-wash spray by Charlie's soap and spray the poo before I wash it. Then I do a cold rinse and hot wash with my detergent*
This is a great diaper to add to your newborn stash! If you tend to have bigger babies though, I might suggest you go with a newborn diaper with a higher weight range limit!
These diapers come in a variety of adorable prints/colors, and can be purchased directly from The Green Nursery for $29.95 for a package of 2!
As a sponsor for the "Newborn Essentials Fluff 'N Stuff" Event, The Green Nursery is giving away a Lil Joey in Lazy Lime to one lucky LWML reader!
